If you don’t like the high-pressure or flashy atmosphere of many commercial gyms, Fitness 19 might be the place for you.

Tired of paying too much for a gym that locks you into long contracts? Fitness 19 membership cost is one of the most affordable options in the country. With monthly plans starting as low as $10, this gym gives you quality equipment, group classes, and a clean space without the high price tag. This guide covers every plan, every fee, and everything you need to know before you sign up.

What Is Fitness 19? A Quick Overview

Brand Background and Gym Philosophy

Fitness 19 was established in 2003. It covers a wide range of locations in the United States, but they are mostly found in California, New Jersey, Nevada, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The Fitness 19 gym was built on one simple notion to provide a clean, quality gym for an affordable price.

Larger gym chains charge you for using their pools, saunas or spa amenities when the chances are that not many people have been into that steam room since it was installed. Fitness 19 provides your basic equipment along with group classes and a warm atmosphere without charging you extra costs for features you don’t even use.

The name “Fitness 19” wasn’t drawn from a hat it came directly from the original vision for the brand: to provide memberships in the price range of around $19 per month. And that’s one thing that hasn’t changed since we started.

How Fitness 19 Competes with Other Budget Gyms

Fitness 19 falls into the same category as Planet Fitness, Crunch Fitness, and Snap Fitness. These are all what we call high-value, low-price gyms. But there’s a few things about Fitness 19 that separates them from the pack.

  • It has free weights that are not restricted like they are in some budget gyms
  • The atmosphere is laid-back and family orientated with no sense of judgement
  • There are locations that offer corporate memberships for employer sponsored plans.
  • Some clubs are open 24 hours. Gives you more flexibility.
  • New members receive 3 complimentary personal training sessions (valued at approximately $100)

Breaking Down Fitness 19 Membership Cost: Every Plan Tier Explained

We have many membership plans at Fitness 19 to meet your needs, goals and budget. Here is a complete list of each!

Basic Plan: Starting at Around $15 Per Month

The Basic plan is the first level plan. It costs around $15/month and there is a one-time enrollment fee of about $99. This plan gives you everything that you need from your gym to get a great workout.

What’s included with our Basic plan:

  • All cardio machines including treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and rowing machines
  • Strength training equipment, including free weights, barbells, and weight machines
  • Functional fitness areas and open turf space for HIIT training
  • Fitness classes, including spinning and weightlifting
  • Locker rooms with showers
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • 3 free personal training sessions for new members

You can also sign up online and get an even lower rate. Some locations have a single-club online rate as low as $10/month if you join through their website.

Full Access Plan: Around $19 Per Month

The Full Access plan is the one most reflective of what the gym initially indicated its pricing would look like. Usually this plan costs around $19 per month and also has an enrollment fee of about $99.

This plan includes everything in the Basic plan plus more classes, and extra discounts. The exact benefits vary by location so check with your home club for details.

This is the best plan for those that want a little more all around pretty much without paying for premium stuff like tanning or Hydromassage.

Premium Plus or Elite Plan: Starting at Around $24.99 Per Month

The Premium Plus plan is the top tier option. It starts at around $24.99 per month and is not available at every location. This plan includes everything in the lower tiers along with a full set of wellness amenities.

What is added with Premium Plus or Elite plan:
  • Hydromassage beds to help relax your muscles and recover post-workout
  • Red Light Therapy by Beauty Angel, boosts collagen and reduces muscle soreness
  • Tanning booths by Ergoline (the same brand found at regular tanning salons, $60+ p/m)
  • Multi-club access
  • Weekend guest privileges.

For those who will use these add-ons often, Premium Plus is often the better bang for your buck when you consider what you’d spend on those features individually.

Annual Membership Plans: $199 to $299 Per Year

If you’re going to be a Fitness 19 member for an entire year, you’ll save the most money with an annual membership. They generally run from $199 to $299 depending on the tier and location.

To calculate if an annual plan saves you money, divide the annual fee by 12. If that number is lower than the monthly rate you would pay otherwise and you know that you will go to the gym for sure for one year- do it!!

Downside-you are dealing with a contract. If you break it too early, an early termination fee may (and probably will) apply.

Hidden Costs to Know Beyond the Base Fitness 19 Membership Cost

The monthly rate is not always the cost you pay! These are some additional costs to know of before signing up.

  • Enrollment or initiation fee: Typically, you’ll be charged something like $99 to join when you first sign up, though this is often waived during seasonal sales particularly in January and early summer.
  • Annual fee: Some gyms charge an extra annual billing fee of about $39.99 to $49 per year, on top of your monthly dues.
  • Late payment fee: If you’re late with your monthly payment at Workout Anytime, you have a 10-day grace period in which to pay it before incurring any fees. After that, the club charges you a $15 late fee.
  • Personal training sessions: If you want more than 3 free ones (an offer included with new membership), it’ll cost you $60 to $90 a session, depending on the trainer and the location.
  • Early termination fee: This only applies if you join an annual plan with monthly payments and cancel before your year is up. Monthly members can quit anytime without penalty.
  • Premium amenity access: Tanning, Hydromassage, and Red Light Therapy are only included in the Premium Plus or Elite tier. Basic and Full Access members will need to pay additionally in order to use these services.

How to Save on Fitness 19 Membership Cost: Deals, Promotions and Insider Tips

You can easily bring down the total amount that you need to pay for your Fitness 19 membership. The best ways are listed below.

  • Sign up online: Fitness 19 rates are cheapest online. You can get some single-club plans for as little as $10/month with an online only offer.
  • Enrollment fee waivers: Fitness 19 will often waive their $99 initiation fee during peak promotional times, particularly around the New Year in January and again during summer Kickoff promotions in May and June.
  • Try before you commit: Most gyms offer a free 3-day trial pass. Take advantage of this to try the equipment, hours, and location to make sure it works for you.
  • Calculate the annual vs. monthly break-even point: If you work out at least three times per week and will be there all year – an annual membership is usually the best way to go – divide the cost of a yearly membership by 12 and see if that number comes out lower than your expected monthly rate.
  • Check your employer or insurance benefits: Many employers offer gym reimbursement in their wellness programs. Some health insurance plans cover part of the membership cost too. Ask your HR department or insurance provider.
  • Don’t waste the 3 free personal training sessions: As a new member, you get 3 free sessions with a certified trainer ($100 value.) Use it to get a custom workout plan made just for you so that you don’t spend time guessing what exercise or machine to do next at the gym.Ask about promotions at the club: Franchisee-owned clubs can often discount the enrollment fee, especially at the end of a month when they are trying to reach their monthly goals/membership targets.

How to Cancel a Fitness 19 Membership and What It Costs

If you ever need to cancel, Fitness 19 makes it relatively simple. Here are the options available to you.

In-Person Cancellation

The easiest way to cancel is to go in person to your local gym. You'll need to bring your membership card and a photo ID with you, and a staff member will take care of the cancellation for you.

Phone Cancellation

You should be able to cancel your membership by visiting in person. That’s where you signed the contract (and it is a binding legal contract you sign, not just direct depositing) and where you can safely assume you’ll need to go to fix any issue with your membership. Just make sure they show up on time.

What to Know Before You Cancel

  • Month-to-month members: No early termination fee. You can cancel at any time.
  • Annual contract members: We’re sorry, but as a club with contractual obligations to our members we do not allow membership cancellations in the first year of membership. Please speak to your club manager for more information.
  • Refund Policy: Varies by location. Confirm the refund policy with your local franchise before cancelling.

In all cases, a notice period will be required. The specific notice period and the form by which you may give notice vary by location.
